These terms govern your use of the FreeNotes website and note-taking service (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. The Service

FreeNotes lets you create, edit, and store notes, share them via public links, and invite collaborators. The Service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind.

2. Your account

  • You may sign up with an email address and password, or with your Google account. Either way, you must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure.
  • You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account.
  • You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, or have a parent or guardian's permission.

When you use "Continue with Google", your use of Google's sign-in service is also subject to Google's terms of service and privacy policy.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • store or share unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or sexually explicit content;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • distribute malware, phishing pages, or other harmful code;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or protected notes;
  • interfere with or overload the Service or its infrastructure.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and remove content that is unlawful or violates these terms.

Abuse reports

Anyone may report a shared note through our report form. We review reports in good faith and may remove reported content, or suspend the responsible account, if we determine these terms have been violated. Submitting knowingly false reports is itself a violation of these terms.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the notes you create. You grant us the limited right to store and display your notes as needed to operate the Service — nothing more. You are solely responsible for your content and for making backup copies of anything important.

5. Public notes and sharing

Making a note public means anyone with the link can view it. You can switch a note back to private at any time to disable the link, but anyone who has already seen it may have copied it. Do not share anything through the Service that you cannot afford to be seen.

6. No warranty

The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or availability. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free, and we are not responsible for data loss.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

8. Changes to the Service or terms

We may modify or discontinue the Service at any time. We may update these terms; continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance.
